Cruelty-Free

Walking the Talk

The question you are probably asking yourself is why does a blog about shelter adoption have a video about animal testing? What does animal testing have to do with shelter animals and why should anyone care?

Quite honestly the two are not connected except that the more I learn about animals in general the more I personally want to live a humane life and make choices that are less likely to impact animals negatively. So in this quest I am on a personal journey to change the way I live. Both in buying cruelty-free products and making my own. In addition to doing something that's good for animals, good for me, and good for the planet... I'm saving money too!

Homemade Dishwash Soap

Ingredients:
1/2 cup hot water
1 cup liquid castile soap
1 tsp white vinegar
1tsp citric acid or lemon juice
1/8 tsp tea tree oil

1/4 tsp lavender or eucalyptus oil (optional)

Directions:

Combine ingredients in large bowl then pour in the very hot water. Stir all ingredients until fully blended. Allow mixture to cool and then store in soap dispensing bottle.

Keep in mind natural recipes do not create a sudsy soap only chemicals like sodium laural sulfate do. Suds are NOT necessary to clean anything and actually make it harder to rinse off.
