Here is a list of shelter websites where you can search for your new family member. You can be your own "rescuer" and save a life! When you visit these websites check both "adoptables" and "lost and found."
Animals only spend a very short time in lost and found and become adoptable very quickly. Also, not every shelter website moves their lost and found animals into adoptable when they become available. So definitely search both.

Includes Agoura, Baldwin Park, Carson, Castaic, Downey, Lancaster and the Antelope Valley Adoption Center.
Kern County Animal Control
Includes Bakersfield, Mojave and Lake Isabella
Delano Animal Control
This is a small animal shelter just north of Bakersfield. Well worth the drive!
Shafter Animal Control
